I have NEVER had a problem with that program changing the numbers of individuals in the GEDCOM file. When I update the GEDCOM file on the WorldConnect server, the links from my main site to the WOrldConnect individual remain intact. My assumption was that all genealogy programs worked that way when creating GEDCOM files. I guess that is not true. I wonder how many others, do not function that way? Pat

PAF and RootsMagic assign an ID number to an individual when that individual is first added to the database, and that ID number remains the same unless you change it by merging individuals. AFAIK, FTM has always assigned new ID numbers to individuals each time a new GEDCOM is exported. Perhaps users of other programs can tell us about their programs. Is an ID number in program XX unique to an individual when that individual is added to the database? Pat Asher
