Why? what do I need to do to get this information shown on a >general web search? ============= I am not sure how long it takes for Google to find WorldConnect database names BUT one thing I have done to help link to two sites is to include a link on my WorldConnect site to the appropriate section of my genealogy site which is no longer hosted by Rootsweb. Example: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=littlefamily with this on each page that displays which is a link to the rest of the site on this family .Home Page: <http://www.family-genealogy-online.com/little/>The Little Family and Collateral Lines Without having a link to your FreePages site it is hard to tell you what needs to be done. It does take time for the Search engines to find you. The results they display will be pertinent to what the viewer searches for. And remember, not everyone is going to enter your site through your "front door" or Home Page. So each page should be optimized for the search engines. A good resource is Googles SEO Starter Guide which can be downloaded for free. You will not be able to follow all of their recommendations but it will give you some guidance. You can read more about it here http://www.genealogy-computer-tips.com/google-search-engine-optimization-starter-guide/ and there is a link to dl the guide. If you click the link on the WordlConnect site, you will be taken to http://www.family-genealogy-online.com/little/ which deals with that specific line of my family. You heading tags to layout the outline of your site. H1 being the most important and they should be used in the proper order. You can read more about the use of heading tags here http://www.genealogy-web-creations.com/heading-tags.html Back to your Freepages site. Include links on your pages back to your database. I do not link to the main page of my WorldConnect database except for the link that says Search the Database but to the pertinent page. Example: <http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=REG&db=littlefamily&id=I80>Register Report from RootsWeb Database on Samuel Little and Elizabeth Boone which takes the viewer to the page with that information. One advantage to linking to the database rather than including the report on my site is that anytime I update the database, the report will be automatically updated.
