    3. Google is very useful. I start with Ancestry.com search, then I enter the surname in Google for other genealogy pages, discussion forums, family websites and living descendants. This requires patience. Different results come up if I enter the just the surname, surname Family, surname Genealogy, surname+the state, etc. White Pages.com is a free source of addresses and phone numbers. The other people searches require payment, but we can see cities, related persons, etc., without paying. With Ancestry, spelling does not have to be exact, but with the others, you have to enter spelling variations as separate searches. In come cases, Ancestry.com has Public Records with people's addresses and phone numbers up to about 1993. Then I enter living people's full names into Google to check if they have Facebook or individual websites, and, if I know where they grew up, check Classmates.com, which requires a subscription. 3. Google+ appears to have awesome potential to gather groups of genealogists together who would probably never do so in real life. Imagine being able to discuss research, visually share family images and treasures and more. If anyone ever uses it, I would like to hear.
