HOW DO YOU START?
Well, there's several ways to get started. One is to go to http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/fileman/file_manager.cgi Log in [ remember that case counts in your password ] On the next page click on the "Enter File Manager" button. From there you can create new pages or edit pages already uploaded to your site. The second is to use some HTML editor/Web Page creator software on your computer to create pages and then upload with FTP software or File Manager to your site. See the page at http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/FAQ/users.html The second method is my preference. I keep my site "backed up" on my computer and work on my pages. Another alternative for page creation is your genealogy software. Most modern genealogy programs now have a way to create a website for you from your database. That will generally give you a bare bones set of pages that you will want to add more information to.
