I'm also receiving the "Error with reCAPTCHA form , try again" on using supplied link to change password (see below). History/Background: After four months, rwsupport(a)ancestry.com have now indicated that my email address has been updated for my Freepages site: http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~ogdar/genealogy/darby/d1.htm http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~ogdar/genealogy/ogilvy/d1.htm I've followed the instructions provided: "First, you will need to reset your password. Go to: https://useraccount.rootsweb.com/websites/requestChangePassword..." Multiple attempts to reset password has included using three different browsers, different devices/computers at home/away from home and external networked library computers - but on each attempt, I receive: "Error with reCAPTCHA form , try again". In addition to using the supplied link (above) to change password, I have also attempted the same using the 'forgot password' link at https://useraccount.rootsweb.com/useraccount/login Although I don't receive the reCAPTCHA error, I never receive any email in response. I would be elated to receive some resolve on this issue. Many thanks Rosemary
A week ago I emailed support (rwsupport@ancestry.com) that I was unable to access my Freepages site - http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~westlakewalker/genealogy/ - and that when I requested a link to change my password, I received no reply. Since I also don't recall receiving an email to notify me that my site was back online, I suspected that I had used an old mail when I originally requested the account. A member of the support team emailed me back on Monday that my account email had been changed to the correct one, and included a link to reset my password. I tried the link with both Chrome and Firefox multiple times, and get the same errors with both: "Error with reCAPTCHA form , try again" on the first attempt, and then "Secure Connection Failed" on the second. I emailed support again a few days ago with this information, and have not received a reply. Can anyone help me get in so I can update my files, please? Barb
Hi Barry, Thanks. I saw mention of the absolute and relative links before and so should look back for them too in the hope I comprehend it. Your URL to the coffeecup will be a good start too. In the beginning it was all, get it done now, but now I seem to be called upon to do some chores around the house lately and trying to sort those things out that the lady "needs" doing. However, hopefully I can fit in what is needed to sort this out too. Might explain why the file:/// is there too. I have never seen that before and yet it is there since I was using the Dreamweaver CC free test. Perhaps it is a lock after the seven days are up. I had recently agreed to go on a Reunion in New Zealand, of the 48th Seaman Boys of 1960 as there are only four of the nine left, but since then realised I can not make it as I have numerous appointments to different Specialists right through to August. We joined on the 11 May so would expect that is when they would be looking at the Reunion so that is out I reckon. Might give me time to look at this Absolute verses Relative anyhow. After I paint the fish pond out and get someone to replace the Pond Pump with a new one. We will see .... supposed to be a heat wave coming up in the next week too, so that will keep me indoors for the day/week. It is OK at 36°C but over 40°C is a wee bit too hot to be outside working. Thanks Barry. Haere, Warren. Hi Warren, Having had a quick look at the 2 pages you linked to, I notice that the main problem is that you are using "absolute" links based on your local file structure, e.g. file:///F:/Macromedia/Dreamweaver-MX/Mokurai/introduction.htm Looking at your file structure - with reference to the above URL, it appears to me that to maintain "relative" links, both locally and on the website, you need to treat the local folder Mokurai as your "root" directory, i.e. that is the starting point from which to address all your other files. In any case, the absolute links you have published on the web won't work, because they refer to your local folder structure. There are hundreds of pages on the web dealing with the subject, and the following is just one of those... https://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/absolute-vs-relative-pathslinks/ Barry On 28/02/2019 17:33, Mokurai Power wrote: > Hi All, > > I need some help in locking in my links. Hello Warren, Here is what I have observed: There are two contents pages http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mokurai/genealogy/contents.htm and http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mokurai/genealogy/Contents.html I would pick one and delete the other to avoid confusion - all of your other files appear to end in .htm so I would pick that file to be consistent with the others ------------------- this is the code for the background image on the contents page: background="./contents_files/snake1.jpg" The file snake1.jpg is at http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mokurai/genealogy/snake1.jpg the code is pointing to http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mokurai/genealogy/contents_files/snake1.jpg ------------------- This is the code for the link to the introduction.htm page: <a href="file:///F:/Macromedia/Dreamweaver%20MX/Mokurai/introduction.htm"> this is pointing to the file on your drive, not to http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mokurai/genealogy/introduction.htm All of the links are coded like the above. I am not familiar with Dreamweaver, so I don't know how you create the links. My editor has a selection "URL is relative to page location" that needs to be set. I hope this helps you resolve the issues. Hi All, I need some help in locking in my links. I seem to get it all right and then it goes straight back to what it was. Here is what I have: <a href="http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mokurai/genealogy/contents.htm"><img src="./index_files/Mokurai.jpg" name="Mokurai" width="282" height="180" id="Mokurai"></a> and here is what I believe I need to connect to the Contents page: <a href="http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mokurai/genealogy/Contents.html"><img src="./index_files/Mokurai.jpg" name="Mokurai" width="282" height="180" id="Mokurai"></a> You will note I have changed to C from c and html from htm. I start with my index page Mokurai/index.html and on the link Kia Ora or the Japanese Kanji it points to the contents.htm but this gives me only the words in the contents and no background or links. I will have to link them all in when I sort out what I am doing wrong to keep the index link to Contents.html. This seems to give me what I need for the Contents page but I start out with right clicking the link on the index page (index.html) and then clicking on Inspect Element. It immediately opens up a side bar on the right of the page in html and high lights the above paragraph. I then click on the highlighted words and click on where it says Edit as HTML. This allows me to change the c to a capital C and add the letter l to the htm to make it html. Highlighting the words gives me nothing that I recognise as having to do other than copy ... does nothing ... I go back to the index picture link and right click on Inspect Element again and it seems to transfer the new link over to it; However, I am lost after that as if I click on Copy Link Address it does not show anything else on that page as having done anything; So I go back to the words in the side bar and right click there where it says Add Attribute. and I click on this. Then I do the same to the other link (Kia Ora) and all seems well but no way to determine how I save that page to keep it at Contents.html page. Nothing showing me a Save button for the page at all. I actually sent two emails to the List over the past day or so but the first one came back as something being wrong and to send it all again without their email attached but I thought what if it was a scam and I stuffed the List up so never sent it. Later I sent another one but to date have not seen any replies ... or even my email. Thanks for any help you can give me in sorting this out. Haere, Warren. -- Over us no prince or barons known. I have the very same issue. Get emails from Rootsweb Support --- but still cannot change my password. I keep writing to them....but not much help. The Robot on the Change your password page doesn't seem to work.
I have the very same problem. Got an email from Rootsweb support, but they just sent me to the Password update page. I tried that several times..... nothing! Very, very frustrating. Virginia
Mary,After my pages were restored I also had trouble updating them. I wrote to Rootsweb support. These are the instructions the sent....---First, you will need to reset your password. Virginia, Just a few other things-- RW has never given support for writing code, or how to upload. Writing to RW Support or Ancestry Support is a waste of time for these issues, because they have never given support for our websites. This List IS the place for getting coding help, and has also been the peer help for uploading. Judy
