    3. One more work-around. It employs the fact that in order to view a Web page it must be downloaded to the viewer's system. Open the desired page with your Web browser and save it as a Web page. You will have "downloaded" it without FTP. Then use your computer's built-in tools (Win Explorer, etc.) to move and/or rename the file as you need. This method is too cumbersome for many pages. But for one, not so bad. -rt_/)

    3. You simply download it. Put it right in the directory on your PC called "genealogy" (folder) in My Webs (folder). Do not put it inside any other folder/directory.

    3. Why not just sign on to your account and download the index page itself? Hopefully you have already downloaded the other pages to your computer. Make whatever changes/additions to the Home Page or any pages and republish that page or pages. pat -----Original Message----- From: FREEPAGES-HELP [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lon Mason via FREEPAGES-HELP Sent: Friday, November 3, 2017 2:28 PM To: [email protected] Cc: Lon Mason <[email protected]> Subject: [FreeHelp] My Index page When I set up my Filezilla file and Dreamweaver files for my genealogy pages, I guess I forgot to download my index page. 3. Method 1. Open filezilla. Navigate to your site. Download your index file to your disk in the proper directory. Method 2. Open your site in your browser. Right click on page. Click "View Page Source" or whatever is comparable. In the source right click and "Save As". Navigate to where you want to save the file and click "Save/OK" or whatever. Downside to this method is you have to remove all the Rootsweb Freepages gunk at the top and bottom before you upload again ot it will be doubled. One alternative to the free but perhaps not permanent option of Freepages is offered by genealogy software author John Cardinal. 3. That pretty much sums it up. Just the other day I discovered another family name site that has gone away. The home page is active but all the information was on a different server, I assume to be a for pay server company. I'm attempting to recover what I can to re-publish to the web for the future. I've already discovered a lot has been lost forever I'm afraid. I just finished the Hadley Society site after it disappeared. Now I have another name site, Bible/Biebel. I hate it when great information is lost. I can't promise they will be there forever but I'm sure they will at least outlast me.
