Syble, I have found in the process of making a couple of my other sites secure, that links that are http can cause the site to show as not secure. I made a concentrated effort to make changes in three sites so far so that they show as secure but it can be a lot of work. Relative links seem to work best. On absolute links to other sites I Had to make sure that the site could be reached by changing http to https. Some do not. Not sure if it is worth the effort if you are not collecting money or other information. I'm trying to log on to FileZilla. Here's what I get: Host: sftp://sftp Username: boyerlinks Password:...... Port:22 QuickConnect: (nothing happens, except this list: Left Side: C:/(program files) (x86)\ List of about 40 files Right side: Remote site:boyerlinks:/genealogy_html/boyer_easton/boyer_easton Followed by a list of c.30 of my file names I right-click on one of the file names and I see Download but I don't see Upload, which is what I want And so I can't add or subtract or change any of my site content. This must be simple. What am I doing wrong? I would copy the screen but screenshot doesn't work for me.

Bill, The original link to change your password was incorrect - it was missing a period after useraccount, and the link now given is correct. On checking https://sites.rootsweb.com/~taylorroots/ gives a Forbidden 403 error. Was the url used to access your site index.htm? Or was it directly to a page with another name? http://sites.rootsweb.com/~taylorroots That should be your site with a new address but it gives the forbidden error which would suggest that its not restored yet. Follow what Barry suggests. I have repeatedly over a period of several weeks tried to access the change password site. I have never gotten any acknowledgement or response. My email address is wmgentry -at- gmail.com and username is taylorroots. I had no difficulty in the past in accessing FreePages so my credentials as of that time were correct. Where do I go to get someone to check the credentials that RootsWeb has for me now? Bill
Hi Jerry and Everyone, Here's how I got to the password webpage. 1. Go to rootsweb.blog 2. Scroll down to July 19th post: Getting into... 3. Click on the URL ending with .../requestChangePassword. Notice the "." between ...account.roots.... Follow instructions to input your Email address. 4. If you get an error message that the server can't be found, go up to the TOP and in the URL, insert that period "." in front of roots. 5. When you get to the password webpage, you should be able to enter your new password. Has to be more than 10. Lots of us are using 13 values of upper & lower case letters, numbers and symbols. Only use the symbols shown. With the new password, wait ~15 minutes, and then you can use your FTP program, like FileZilla to go and look at your files on the new Roots servers. With Filezilla, make sure you are in the correct web and correct directory/sub-directory. Match PC version to Live-Internet version.
My site (wiltonhistory) is restored and running well. I next ,after several tries, got a Password. When I used this PW on Zilla I got "Authentication Failed" or " ECONNREFUSED". I then went to get anew and better password using both new and old Email addresses and found I could not get one -message :"we did not find results". What next? Al Wood

Thank you, Barry. Turns out that my Filezilla is up to date. The problem seems to be not Filezilla but Kompozer. If I try to use that program to edit my site, and click Open, it does not open my current site and so I can't make any changes. This is my site, with URL having been saved from previous use. How do I get Kompozer to open this site? http://sites.rootsweb.com/~boyerlinks/ I can email that URL to other people and it works, but I can't get Kompozer to open it. Open your existing FileZilla and look for the Help link - top line, last item on right. Open Help and click on Check for Updates... and the program will check for the latest update and prompt you to download it. That's all you need do, as it will install the current version and reopen itself - ready to work. When you've achieved that, check in with the list and get guidance if required as how to set it up.
