    3. On this list we don't do anything with account info. That's thru the Help Desk. BUT if one of the things you typed was your password, you also need to ask the Desk to assign you a new PW because this list goes to hundreds of people. I keep the email RW sends with password and account name so I can refer back to it. 3. Hello Heidi, Looks like you have been copying & pasting from a webpage. Make sure you have removed all the rootsweb code, and the piece that is currently causing you grief is:- <div id="RootsBanner-SearchWrapper"> - which you must have left in after your <body> tag. I've run your page here using - <base href="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~heidisfamily/"> after the meta tags, and removed the extra <div> as above, and all is well. Barry

You can see it easier on this example http://www.expression-web-tutorials.com/border-backgrounds/daisy-example.html where the cream is a textured bg rather than solid color. See the difference on this one http://www.expression-web-tutorials.com/border-backgrounds/blue-flower-example.html which it was easier to pick out the solid color to use where the image does not repeat. On this one, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~greatmcnewclan/Clayton/gentree2.jpg it looks like the solid color is a color rather than textured background. The beauty of using a style sheet to control how your pages look is that you can make the change in the style sheet itself and it makes the changes in all pages the style sheet is attached to. pat Working With Rootsweb FreePages Accounts EBook http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gearyfamily/rootsweb-freepages-ebook.html Planning a Genealogy Website EBook 2nd Edition http://www.genealogy-web-creations.com/genealogy-website-ebook.html

    3. See if this helps http://www.expression-web-tutorials.com/border-backgrounds/ It really is as simple as having the background image repeat vertically and using the same color as the solid part of the background color. 3. Patsy, Unfortunately I forget who on this list helped me; my apologies for forgetting the person's name. The person took my image and added (solid color) width to make the side banners stay put. It worked! Hopefully the same person will see your message and step in to help you like they helped me. 3. It has been a while since I've worked on my pages. I've had several computer crashes and recently got a new computer with Windows 7. I decorated my pages with a nice background that has roses on the left. In my old computer, it looked just fine, but now the roses have duplicated and are on the right side also. This duplication has distorted my pages. Is there any way to fix this without having to remove the roses? Sample of background as it should look: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~greatmcnewclan/set36bkgd.jpg This is a sample of the roses duplicated and obstructing the text. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~greatmcnewclan/d240.htm#P240 Additionally, I've taken information from other McNEW researchers and the decorated pages are also distorted. Sample: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~greatmcnewclan/Clayton/clayton.htm Sample of the background as it should look: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~greatmcnewclan/Clayton/gentree2.jpg Any help will be greatly appreciated -- I want to keep the decoration on the left side, but delete the duplicated right side. I realize that in order to correct all these pages it is going to be a tremendous job. Any help in the 'simplest' way is what I need. Thanks in advance for any help....... 3. I don't know if it is teaching Grandma/pa to suck eggs but someone on a Computer Mailing List advised me to keep a folder in My Docs with all the same program shortcuts in. It has proved so helpful. I wondered if Patsy may like to do this, have a folder called 'Colours' and keep her shortcuts to those programs she uses or a Word document with the links in. The simplest one I've found so far can be found at http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/ . If that doesn't work for your version of Windows (assuming you are using Windows, that is), do a Google search for "windows image resizer powertoy". That should get you going. ----- No virus found in this message. Checked by AVG - www.avg.com Version: 10.0.1410 / Virus Database: 1520/3924 - Release Date: 09/28/11
