The only thing I can tell you about accessing your account is to remember that passwords are caSesensiTive, casensensitive is different from caSesensiTive. My serious question is why do you still use a computer that has a botnet on it.? I get the fact that you might not want to lose whatever is on your computer, but if it does have a botnet on it you could be doing major damage to someone elses computer. You need to blow it and start all over again. Not a fun proposition I agree but sometimes it is necessary. If your not comfortable doing it yourself have someone else do it for you [ not a cheap proposition ]. My first step would be to boot the computer from a live CD/DVD of Linux. Run the hard drive partitioning software and delete any, and all, partitions on the hard drive, format it and reinstall the operating system of your choice. That will remove just about anything that might be on your computer. Another thing is to remove your old hard drive and install a new one then install an operating system. Terrabyte hard drives are fairly cheap these days. We generally have a new one in a box in case we need one. Online stores, like Amazon and Newegg, usually have some at good prices. The important thing is you need to do something to get rid of that botnet before it does damage to someone else. On 10/30/2015 08:14 AM, Ronald Mesnard via wrote: > My account is redmurdock. I did use the word "video" as a loose term really, it's more interactive than just a video, otherwise YouTube would have been where it got put. And realistically, all servers are, are places to store web files, they just get stored in a way that others can view them easily. I'm not talking even talking about "storing" a file that will never get seen, it would probably get seen more than the rest of the site would if I think about it. Not a problem though - can't put it on there, will have to figure something else out. Kathy asked: ".. what the maximum file size is for any single file that is allowed to be uploaded to a freepages website. I'm trying to upload a video I've made and the ftp transfer keeps on timing out." Most video files are very large, especially if they also have sound. Every second of video represents multiple images, each of megabyte size. They strain bandwidth and server capacity. FreePages is trying its hardest to warn you away from putting video on your site. From http://rootsweb.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3223/kw/allowed%20file% 20types/session/L3RpbWUvMTQ0NTUzNzM2MC9zaWQvY242bERCem0%3D, titled "Extensions available to use on web account pages": ".. large image, video and audio files are not allowed there." And, from http://accounts.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index.cgi?op=show&page=freagree.htm: "8. FreePages accounts may NOT be used for file storage - whether it is MP3 files, zip files, video files, huge images files, etc. Accounts that are being used in this manner will be closed." A suggestion is to upload the video to a site that does accept video files (e.g., YouTube) and put a link to it on your Freepages site. Just remember not to run afoul of: "7. FreePages accounts may NOT be used only as a redirect to sites off of RootsWeb." That is, you'll need content on the page other than the link. BTW, you can get the filename extension by searching for the filename (without the extension) in Windows Explorer. -rt_/)
What about uploading it to YouTube and putting the link on your Freepages site? Or, if you didn't want to be that public, you could make it private on YouTube and then just send the link to family via email. > From: Kathy Thompson <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [FreeHelp] max file size > > > thanks for quick reply - although I can't see the file type mentioned, I > can see red flags that would put my whole site in jeopardy if the upload > did go though - even though the file is family history related > back to square 1 of where to put this so family can see it easily then - > far more easily than the current method anyway > > >
thanks for quick reply - although I can't see the file type mentioned, I can see red flags that would put my whole site in jeopardy if the upload did go though - even though the file is family history related back to square 1 of where to put this so family can see it easily then - far more easily than the current method anyway On 21 October 2015 at 19:15, JFlorian <[email protected]> wrote: > Rootsweb may not allow the file type. Hi all, just wondering what the maximum file size is for any single file that is allowed to be uploaded to a freepages website. I'm trying to upload a video I've made and the ftp transfer keeps on timing out. cheers,
Rootsweb may not allow the file type. See http://accounts.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index.cgi?op=show&page=freagree.htm

Chris, You didn't do anything wrong. Ancestry.com was informed some months ago that the Captcha script is not working correctly for Mailmerge forms. They have acknowledged the problem but have indicated they do not have an scheduled time line to correct the problem. Pat A.
Hi I have a mail merge form as part of my website, and have only recently become aware of the fact that it is no longer works. Link to page with form below: http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cmahoney/Contact.htm The problem is with the Captcha screen that follows after clicking on the submit button, even though the correct text is being entered, I am just given a new Captcha screen. All I know is that there is currently one message in the file the form is supposed to change messages to, and that I have made no alterations to any of the files on this part of the website since that message was posted. Any suggestions as to what might be happening, and how to resolve it. Thanks

My previous post on the CSS filters property provided a demonstration at:- http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~bristowe/css-rules-valerie.html ... and I noted that it only operated correctly in Firefox 40+. Well, as I suspected the Chrome and Opera browsers came to life when the filter styles had the -webkit- vendor prefix added. The MS Edge browser was easier (though time consuming to detect the problem); being achieved by opening a new Tab and entering about:flags in the address field. The Experimental features has an "Enable CSS filter property" which needs to be "checked", and once done, close and reopen the browser. The MS Edge CSS filter properties are still experimental, and I have found there is a "zero value" bug in the opacity() function when the slider value is 0%. For some unknown reason it thinks it is 100%. A "work around" has been made to restrict its smallest value to 0.1% and it then behaves like the other browsers. In the following demo page the number of filters have been increased from 6 to 8 by adding the contrast() and brightness() functions. All these filter functions are now able to be "set" and then hidden, which allows the background-image to be captured by external software such as the FastStone Capture utility, or in Firefox the Awesome Screenshot add-on is an option. The "right-click" background-image Save function is not available in any of the browsers - for a very good reason; the background-image is in a "pseudo element" - #content::before, i.e. a fake or non existent element. Having "set" the filters and then hiding them by clicking on the [ hide ] link at the bottom of the displayed filters div, you can restore the filters again by clicking on the [ show ] link that will become visible if you hover the cursor pointer in the top left corner of the page. The filters can be reset to their default values using Ctrl+F5, and the slider movement is by dragging the slider thumb, or using the left/right keyboard arrows. Each slider thumb needs to be clicked on with the cursor to get the slider "in focus" for the arrow keys to recognise it, and the up/down keyboard arrows will also do the same job. http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~bristowe/css-filter-functions.html or http://countjustonce.com/test/css-filter-functions.html A word about the saturate() function. Its default value is 100%, and when set to 0% the display is in grayscale, but at 200% the color saturation becomes excessive. With the background-image currently being used, a value of 140% gives an acceptable high saturation level. I haven't included a grayscale() function, as this can be achieved by setting saturation(0%) and adjusting contrast() and brightness() functions to suit. Similarly, the invert() function will provide an equally out of phase relationship when set to 50%; the result is grey [gray]. In the Firefox 40+ browser the F11 fullscreen mode will work correctly, but in MS Edge the fullscreen mode has not been implemented by Microsoft, and will be included as an early update to the browser.
