Good! That was really confusing people, I know. We are currently working on bringing back the homepages and freepages URLs. I do not have estimated time on when they will work, but it is high on the priority list. I can't get Filezilla to work still. Same error message. Anne (Rootsweb Blog) is asking me to reset the password again but it won't let me do that "...problem sending your message" or the like. 1940 UTC I gather WS_ftp Pro is a $ program. I have my new password for my site dasisson. I've always used CuteFTP for this, and couldn't connect using my version 8. Apparently version 8 couldn't do SFTP, only FTP. So I upgraded to CuteFTP 9.3, which can do sftp, but it still won't connect. So I installed FileZilla, and it still doesn't connect. I get the same error message that Walter was getting. I'll try again, but is there something simple that people typically overlook? Thanks, Carol Regehr--cregehr@yahoo.com

This may be a special problem: I have three USER NAMES with the same E-mail account. When I use the Request new PassWord webpage, it just asks for the Email. Inputted waltbruetsch@usa.net and got one account: bruetsch This account hasn't yet been brought back on line. Which may explain why I can't connect to the server. (See below) The other USER Names are flmcgs and flmartin. These two sites have been restored. Now, how can I get new passWords for these last two? And how long are the passwords supposed to be? 8? 16? many more? Anne, Will you please remove the coding on the servers that changes our html coding to insert ".sites" into URLs to other accounts on the same servers (it doesn't do it for non-hosting rootsweb.com servers.) When I write a text URL or a link to <.a href="https://sites.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/">https://sites.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily<./a> the server changes it to <.a href="https://sites.sites.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/">https://sites.sites.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily<./a> I even tried munging it myself to https://rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/ and the server insisted on making it https://sites.sites.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily www.rootsweb.com becomes www.sites.rootsweb.com etc. Pat A.

I was asked at that time to update my Ancestry password. 2. The current incident was an "open" text file discovered on a Rootsweb.com server. It was reported to Ancestry by a white hat hacker on 20 Dec 2017. 3. The vulnerability was immediately investigated and after it was verified, two days later on 23 Dec 2017 Ancestry took RootsWeb offline and started notifying affected users. 4. I don't remember reading anywhere that the reason all of the sites were taken offline last December was because of compromised emails and passwords. Maybe I missed it, and if so, so did Warwick.
