Hi Vanessa, Have you been to the Pennsylvania Grand Commandery website. If not you will find it here: http://pagrandcommandery.org/ Lancaster Commandery No. 13 appears in the list of Commanderies. You can use their contact page to ask if they hold any information. Hello, I am completely new to fraternal orders. My g-g-great grandfather Jacob Rothermel belonged to Lancaster Commandery No. 13. I know this from a masonic jewel I have. It looks like this commandery is no longer in existence. How do I find out more about it and his role in it? Vanessaea@comcast.net

Hi Stasha He lived in Halifax area in England, in 1913 him his wife and children emigrated to Philladelphia and then later to Weymouth MA. The thing is tho Stasha this may not be that relative I thought it was, there are disputes over whether it is him or brother or son. Either way the areas they all lived and moved to are the same, so it should be 1 of those 3 areas. You are doing great so far. I would just love it though if I could find a photo which was an exact match. I wish there was some program I could enter it into, it scan it and tell me :) I look forward to hearing from you Regards Louise Wortley Sent from my iPhone On 15 Jul 2011, at 08:01, freemasons-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. got all the updated photos u sent, thanks!. still searching, but its almost impossible to make out what is on the front. until i know if its an owl or a man or a being?... im stumped!! without that specific i will be on a wild goose chase as relics often mimic each other throughout time. its that "face?" that makes it 100% special! the rest of the necklace has common traditional characteristics so the rest would be easy to trace if we knew what it was. but i wont give up trying! can anyone else make out what is adorned to the front of it? Ruth, You might start with the following: http://67.21.204.162/MasonicLibrary/Portal.aspx This should give you access to the Library / Museum of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania where you can search or contact someone a little closer to the records than we are. They may be short staffed until after the first of the year with people taking vacations (holidays) now. You would need to know the specific lodge in Philadelphia to contact them directly. There are about thirty lodges listed on the lodge locator. Lodges also may have sent their archives to the Grand Lodge Library for safe keeping and also records may have been lost if one lodge merged with another or due to fire and other natural disasters. Good luck in you searching and Happy Holidays to you and yours, hope you're not buried in the snow. Fred Frederick M. Can SKS advise whether there are records of Freemasons in Philadelphia towards the end of the 18th century, and how they may be accessed from the UK. Merry Christmas everyone Ruth
