    3. Thursday, December 2, 2004, 1:02:19 PM Hi, One of my new recruits has asked "is it possilbe to use two computers to transcribe?" She has one at work and one at home (different addresses)I have advised her that it could get rather complex and entail attachments between work and home or burning CDs to transfer her work. Has anyone any experience with this situation that knows a system that could be used. -- Regards, Tony Syndicate Co-ordinator "The Aussie Scribe Tribe" Transcribing Deaths 1908 All Incoming and Outgoing mail is scanned by Trend Micro Internet Security 2005

    3. Hi All, I have one user who does this, and to avoid the problems of moving files etc, we decided it would be easiest if he simply had two files being transcribed. One on the work machine, and a different one on the home machine. This works fine, but does make he order the pages are returned in a little strange sometimes. One thing you do need to point out is that a lot of companies security policies prohibit the installation of non authorised software (E.G. WinBMD) on there PC's. Some companies of course set-up their PC's so that normal users do not the the required security level to install software. Kevin. 3. For a time one of my transcribers was living in hotels all week with a laptop and at home at weekends, and managed quite well with floppy disks to do the transfers of data. If someone is managing an occasional half-an-hour's transcribing in the lunch hour at work, and also transcribing at home, I can see that it would make sense to work on different files at the different locations. I have a related question. Is there a way of installing WinBMD onto a computer that does not have an internet connection, by downloading a file with all the necessary bits and pieces at one location, and then transporting it by floppy or more up-to-date device to the isolated computer? This could help people (maybe limited in number) who are able to download but not install at work or some public-access computer, but do not have internet access on the computer they wish to transcribe with.
