    1. More Stringent Checking of Files - New Criteria to be Introduced

    3. To Syndicate Co-ordinator Colleagues. I have taken on board comments from Co-ordinators following the recent introduction of stringent checking for Age at Death files. As a consequence this is to give ADVANCE NOTICE to Co-ordinators of the intention to adopt more stringent checking of files containing the following four types of errors: 1. Year mismatch between the File name and header contents. 2. Quarter " " " " " " " " 3. Event " " " " " " " " These files currently show up in the Suspect Report and are allowed upload to FreeBMD. Once the new stringent checking is introduced, these files will NOT be allowed upload to FreeBMD until corrected by the volunteer. 4. Files transcribed from scans not containing +PAGE. Currently these are allowed to be uploaded to FreeBMD and are shown with a warning. Following the introduction of the new stringent checking these files will NOT be allowed upload to FreeBMD until corrected by the volunteer. All four types of error are down to volunteers making basis errors when transcribing or naming their files and such files will require correction by the volunteer before they can uploaded to FreeBMD. We welcome comments from Co-ordinators before we introduce the new checking criteria, and comments by 6 December 2004 would be appreciated. Regards Allan Raymond

    3. Hi Alllan et. al. I think there should be a 4th check that the first page number should match the number in the filename also (at least for the +S header type) This is a WinBMD standard anyway as are the others. I would also like to see the end page number be required to upload and contain a number not just +PAGE, At 03:57 PM 30/11/2004, Allan Raymond wrote: >To Syndicate Co-ordinator Colleagues. > >I have taken on board comments from Co-ordinators following the recent >introduction of stringent checking for Age at Death files. > >As a consequence this is to give ADVANCE NOTICE to Co-ordinators of the >intention to adopt more stringent checking of files containing the following >four types of errors: > >1. 3. Hi Allan, Does this take into account that there is not a standard file name as I found out when I asked for the initial letter of the first surname to be restored as mandatory as it used to be? It is now optional ie 1887B1(M)xxxx. What happens when the file ends in +BREAK. As I pointed out the other day there are errors and 'errors' Otherwise it should have been in operation ages ago.
