Hello to all I am a new co-ordinator and have asked for my transcribers to send me their first page for checking but I can not open the attachment it says invalid file and check header details I have asked them to check header details and re send them to me for checking but if this still does not work do anyone have any suggestions as to what to do next? Christine, I do the same as yourself although I have a specific page that I get all new members to transcribe, that way it's much easier for me to check as I know the scan almost without looking at it. It is also a very difficult page, with non-standard districts, difficult forenames, illegible entries etc and I can always give comments to ensure they are doing things correctly (twys, use the correct ucf's etc etc). I'd highly recommend doing this. It's a fairly regular thing though for people to send me the wrong file, I get shortcuts to their transcribed file, copies of the downloaded scan, all sorts of rubbish and this is probably what's happening here. WinBMD transcribed files are stored in a folder called "Output" below their WinBMD folder, ie normally "C:\Program Files\WinBMD\Output\" (although it's possible for them to install the program elsewhere the majority use this default). Save the file they've sent and look at it with Wordpad, it's generally easy to see if it's the correct file or not, if it isn't then simply ask them to look in the above folder for the correct file. If it looks like the right file then what is giving the error you mention (?), if it's WinBMD then send the file to me and I'll take a look at it. Hope that helps.
