    3. A while ago we were exhorted to change our file names so that they included the page numbers. I am trying to upload a file that is of the format: 1860D1_0001_0098 which contains the first 98 pages of the letters G to P. Unfortunately somebody decided to split the March Qtr 1860 Deaths into three sections, A-G, G-P and P-Z. They then renumbered all the pages from 1 in each section. Hence there is a file in the A-G section which was called 1860D1_0001_00098 and a file in the G-P section with the identical name. How do we differentiate? I would suggest putting an A in the first filename and a G in the second but that does not match the file name format that has been proposed. Note I used to specify the first 3 letters of the first and last surname so I have had no problems previously. With that naming convention the second file would have been 1860D1_GRI_HAR and would have been completely different to the 1860D1_AAR_AYT that I have previously uploaded. Another problem that I have with the page number convention is that most of our early work was typed from Fiche. The files have the "Fiche" page number after the +PAGE descriptor. When these files have been scanned they have been assigned a totally different page numbering convention. For example there are often blank pages between each letter plus the page with the letter on that have been assigned scan page numbers. The fiche do not include any of these pages in their page numbering scheme. To convert from the fiche page numbering scheme to the scan page numbering scheme would take a long time and would take somebody away from transcribing and other work.
