The new version of the image display seemed to be generally well received, although some people regretted moving to a proprietary file format like PDF. Hmm, maybe me but I can't get this to work properly Dave. I entered the Page Number required (initially 1871 Births Q2 Page 52 but did try others), I got a status display (at bottom of IE window) of "Downloading from site ......", then "Done", then (over a minute later with nothing obvious happening in the meantime) the page appeared, I got no options re selecting a format? Hi Dave Now where did I hear that you can't please all of the people all the time? <g>. You seem to be having a darned good try. I have just selected Births March 1870 1870b1_044 from the new http://images.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/choose4.pl. I have tried twice, but each time got no choice other than to download a .TIF file. There seems to be a problem with the tiff to jpg conversion.I decided to open a file I know to be stored as a tiff of about 206kb, as a jpg. I went in through the FreeBMD home page about 10.20 am UK time. It has come out as an mirror image, rotated left so the writing was upside down, size 2.83 MB . The gif version was about 950kb, again mirror image with the writing upside down. The pdf file was the same size as the tif original, and correctly oriented. The file in question was 1908M4-J-0185. In each case I used 'Open' rather than 'Save' . WinXP with up-to-date patches.
