Notepad does not accept UNIX end of line convention so it is useless in this context. Whilst Wordpad can indeed add formatting information if used as I suggested it does work. The key is to use Save As "Text document" which happens automatically if there is no extension or the extension is .BMD. There are numerous other ways of doing the conversion (I use unix2dos) but using Wordpad is the simplest way I know that avoids having to acquire additional software.
