Re: the latest digest. As a coordinator, when checking Correction requests I could get close to 60 downloads in an hour but I don't think that I will break that limit. If I do then the remainder of the scans will have to wait for the next lunch break. If people are downloading scans then one thing that would help them (and cut down on the number of scans downloaded) would be to put the first three letters of the first surname on the scan as part of the scan title. On the few occasions when I have looked for a particular scan, I have had to download on average about 6 scans to find the correct one. By giving the person downloading the scans a better idea of where their surname is you should get a reduction in the number of scans downloaded. Have fun, Clive Essery Co-ordinator of the LGC syndicate. There are three ways of downloading scans: firstly by the link from the entry information page, secondly via "View Images" on the home page and finally, for transcribers, from http://images.freebmd.org.uk/GUS/. FreeBMD policy is that downloading from GUS is for the purpose of transcribing but FreeBMD does not object if transcribers use GUS for downloading for their own research (instead of using "View Images") provided the use is moderate. Possibly as a result of recent publicity about how to do multiple downloads from GUS we are finding individuals downloading large numbers of scans. As a result we have put a limit on the number of downloads from GUS, the limits being 100 in 24 hours or 30 in one hour. Limits for syndicate coordinators are double these values. These limits should not inhibit anyone using GUS for the purpose for which it is provided but if there is someone who needs to download more than this we will see if we can accommodate them. Please let me know if you have such a requirement.
