    3. Sue, I have moved this to Discuss. Well, I wasn't making it up, just quoting! The submitter page says "N.B. The vast majority of records have been transcribed by people with _no research interest_ in the names they have transcribed. Please do _not_ mail the transcribers with research questions. This email address is provided for the purpose of correcting errors in the transcription." I am currently making changes to this page and have included the following, which is along the same lines but more explicit about the kind of changes: "Please note that FreeBMD transcribes the entries in the indexes and has a policy of transcribing the data *exactly* as it appears in the indexes. Corrections should therefore be based on substantive evidence and this must be given in the Source field. Many districts in the indexes have variant spellings. These are transcribed in FreeBMD exactly as they appear in the indexes and are then linked to the correct district. Please do *not* report a misspelt district unless what is in FreeBMD is different from what is in the index." I will also be allowing transcribers to say they don't want to receive corrections, but his just means they will get sent to someone else, yet to be decided! One issue we have at the moment is that we don't know how many people send correction emails. I suspect it is very low - have you had one, I haven't! My changes will incorporate a log of corrections so in the future we will have some information to go on. 3. IMHO the new proposed version is too long. No-one's going to read it. So far I've never received a "correction" - only enquiries from people assuming I'm interested in their "name". So even the existing short one isn't being read and understood.
