Ruth, With single corrections it is far easier to go into your file management, find the file and click on 'View/Edit' and make the correction directly. I upload a large number of processed files from one-name contributors. Since the files are theirs they are asked to accept the corrections first, and I feel this is right. I certainly take your point about whether it is appropriate to make the correction when you still cannot be certain of the character(s). Clearly where the automated checking procedure has identified a mismatch between two transcriptions of the same entry then a third, definitive view should prevail. The question then becomes one of whether the checkers should be able to correct files directly.
