I have come in late on this but with reference to someone sending off to various districts for certificates with page numbers supplied by us, then It's quite likely he will be disappointed. In my experience the districts don't use this number at all. Maybe it could be made clear that our page numbers refer to the central archive and not the individual district. So we can't be blamed for Mr Angry's lack of knowledge, if he had applied to GRO he would probably have been more succesful.
