Helen and others There appears to be some confusion here. THERE is a facility to download the scans from FreeBMD the recognised route is via 1. Transcribers' Page at: http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/vindex.shtml and click on "Scans available for transcription" which is shown under Volunteer Support & Resources. 2. This take you to Using Scanned Source at: http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/scan-source.html and click on "Web Scan source page" which is shown under How do I sign up? 3. This takes you to Transcribing Scanned Source at: http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/scan-source2.shtml where you can click on one of three links "BIRTHS","MARRIAGES" or "DEATHS" which are shown under "Scans can be downloaded from the following links". The problems the other volunteers and you are mentioning are specific to Scan2 Syndicate. Having said that I have just tried Derek's site and managed to download a scan without any problem. The links to the scans on Derek's site in fact point to the scans which are located on the FreeBMD site and which are accessible via the links in 3. above. Anyone else having problems with Derek's site should wait until Derek or Sue etc can respond.
