    3. Hi Mike I have redirected this to the DISCUSS List I would appreciate the comments of Dave, Graham on this one. So that others know what we are talking about you had an entry 'See m/83' which occupied the columns reserved for the Vol. No and Page No. I can't recollect seeing any responses to the FreeBMD list saying to use the Pick List to get to the Vol. No , I assume any responses were sent off list. The only responses which spring readily to mind were from me and Dave Mayall. I still maintain, that you shouldn't be using the Pick List to determine the missing Vol. No but instead should be inserting ? and as you point out 3 underscores for the missing Page No. Allan Raymond [email protected] http://www.btinternet.com/~allan_raymond/Monarchies_of_Europe.htm FreeBMD - putting birth marriages and deaths on the Internet http://FreeBMD.rootsweb.com/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Canny" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: 01 October 2001 21:50 Subject: Re: cryptic handwritten entry 'See m/83' entry Thanks for the comments and advice; the consensus seems to be that I should allow the pick-list to add the Vol. No. and use 3 underscores in the Page No. column. This I have done, and successfully uploaded. Mike

I saw no advice to the effect of "use the pick list value" on the list, so I assume that we have a purveyor of bad advice e-mailing privately :-( I was thinking actually, we should have the reply-to address set back to the list, to try and ensure that replies go via the list. -- Dave Mayall
