I am searching for William Elijah Levitt, born in 1896 Hull, Yorkshire as I am trying to obtain a death cert for him and his wife Elsa Charlotte Levitt. I am told he and his wife (my grandparents) died in 1945 in September quarter but have no info on how they died? They lived in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire at the time possibly Analby Road, Hull or Argyll Street, Hull. I have tried the fee bmd records but nothing comes up for William Levitt.

Angela, FreeBMD has not transcribed deaths to 1945 as yet, but Ancestry has same data from UK GRO index. John Just in case there is any confusion. You are factually incorrect to say FreeBMD has not yet transcribed to 1945 Deaths as yet. You only need to check out the progress charts at: http://www2.freebmd.org.uk/progressD.shtml to see that FreeBMD are currently working on years up to and including 1961. !945 are fully completed except for possible an odd page or two. A search of the FreeBMD database will find the entries for the two persons in question. Angela, There has been no search on the FreeBMD database for a William Levitt between 11th and 13th of January - when you get an unexpected result you should check that you are searching for what you intended - the search results contain the search details for just this purpose.
