Hello, I apologise for asking what I have probably been told already. Would you please remind me whether there is an index to the subjects covered by the TKB, and where it is to be found. It could take a long while to find a particular item in the absence of such a list. Peter, Yorkshire Volunteers
There's an index at the start of the TKB. In addition on most of the FreeBMD pages there's a block at the top or bottom of the page titled "Explore" which is superimposed on top of a red FreeBMD logo. If you click on that block it will take you a search page where you can search all the documents on FreeBMD by entering your search criteria. The start of the Transcribers' Knowledge Base (TKB) <http://www.freebmd.org.uk/vol_faq.html> contains an index to the items in it. But don't forget you can search (or Explore as it is called to avoid confusion with searching the database) the FreeBMD website by clicking on the Explore graphic at the bottom of each page. Peter You will find an icon at the top right of the Transcribers' Page http://www.freebmd.org.uk/vindex.shtml with 'Explore FreeBMD' on it. Clicking on this icon (which also appears on some other FreeBMD web pages) takes you to http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/Explore.pl This page allows you to put in a key word or phrase and look for any occurrences in TKB or elsewhere on the FreeBMD web site. Most TKB items about how to deal with oddities that show up on pages for transcribing are in section 6 of TKB. In many web browsers you can use CTRL-F to create a search box to find occurrences of a particular word on a large web page. For example using CTRL-F and looking for 'alternative' on the TKB page http://www.freebmd.org.uk/vol_faq.html shows up 10 occurrences and takes you straight to TKB 6(u) and 6(am) Jeff ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Fitch" <peter@pfitch167.plus.com> To: <FreeBMD-Admins@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2012 9:46 PM Subject: TKB Index > Hello, > > I apologise for asking what I have probably been told already. > > Would you please remind me whether there is an index to the subjects > covered by the TKB, and where it is to be found.
