Hi It may be useful to give a reminder to our new transcribers and possible others we have the extremely useful BMDVerify Program developed by David Lang . To quote: "The BMDVerify program has been written to help you carry out a final check once you have finished transcribing a scanned BMD index. It works by displaying the scanned image of the index from which you did the transcription and in a small window on top, what you have transcribed using SpeedBMD or WinBMD. Each transcribed index record is displayed in turn, just below the entry in the original scanned image so you can quickly compare the two to see that you have transcribed them correctly." Comprehensive information can be found at: http://bmdverify.itendia.co.uk/index.html which includes a link to download BMDVerify. You'll be amazed at the errors identified in transcribed files when using BMDVerify. Allan Raymond FreeBMD Co-ordinator of Syndicates
I would heartily endorse what Allan says. Don't even think of submitting your transcription without using BMDverify. The most important errors, in my opinion, that it will highlight are those of omission. It is so, so easy to miss a line and if a line hasn't been keyed then no one can find that record in a search. best wishes to all Graham Allan Raymond wrote: >Hi > >It may be useful to give a reminder to our new transcribers and possible others we have the >extremely useful BMDVerify Program developed by David Lang . > >To quote: > >"The BMDVerify program has been written to help you carry out a final check once you have finished >transcribing a scanned BMD index.
