    3. Hello all, Thanks for the replies. I now understand it is a widespread problem. What to do about it, I don't know! Regards Brian Smart

    2. Dear All, I suggest you ditch NTL and find a more friedlier IP. I've heard many horror stories about NTL and also AOL, both are a pain up the backside as far as monitoring e-mails are concerned. 3. I think that the problem is that when NTL started their spam-trapping it slowed things down, and incoming emails would time-out before getting through to NTL, and bounce back. This was particularly true of some free ISPs that seemed not to attempt to send a second time if a timeout occurred, but gave up. This paraphrases information obtained when emails from my daughter were bouncing. I know that some mail to me bounces, but have never found any of the missing mail in the spam folder NTL provides. Yahoo groups mail gets through rather irregularly. The only case I know where NTL settings were at fault in failing to deliver my emails was rectified several weeks after I complained. That was to an ISP in Germany. In general, the wording on 'bounces' usually gives clues as to why the bounce has occurred. The more information you can give to an ISP help-desk from a 'bounce' the more likely they are to be able to avoid it recurring - if they want to. This is my understanding of the situation, which may not be wholly correct. Any of my transcribers who has had messages to me bounced - try try again! They usually get through in the end. If not, send a discreet message to this list and I will provide an alternative email address to contact me. Jeff
