Kevin- Thanks for your detailed comment. Re your N.B. - You say if you've uploaded an entry, there is no point in my submitting a correction to my transcription to make it identical to yours. Would it be to the advantage of the FreeBMD index if, on seeing yours, I edited out my incorrect entry (if I thought it was or could be incorrect). This would reduce the number of incorrect entries in the index, and there are millions of them. This comment is no reflection on our transcribers. I have transcribed may thousand entries - marriages 1846 & 1848 on fiche-and I know the difficulties. Many entries are virtually indecipherable in at least one element, usually the page number, or part thereof. Or have I got it all wrong?
