    3. This is the email of 12th May. Unfortunately none of the replies helped. The transcriber is to date still using SpeedBMD Debbie Valentine -----Original Message----- From: Debbie Valentine [mailto:debs.valentine@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, 13 May 2005 6:35 a.m. To: FreeBMD Subject: Unable to install WinBMD Hi All I have a new transcriber who has been unable to install WinBMD and so is using SpeedBMD. He has see WinBMD in action and wants to use it. Below is the email he sent me: As I suspected Winbmd will not install. I downloaded it from freebmd yet again, Version 4.4.0.0. It says it is initializing the wise installation wizard and then up comes a box which says."Checking for previously loaded components" This turns into not responding and I have to ctrl/alt/delete. I get the same result time after time. I'm running xp home here. Any information would be appreciated from any other users. Help please Debbie Valentine NZ

    3. Can't be much help I'm afraid, but for what it's worth WinBMD (4.4.0) installed without problem and is running fine here under XP Home (SP2). > *From:* "Debbie Valentine" <debs.valentine@gmail.com> > *To:* FreeBMD-Admins-L@rootsweb.com > > This is the email of 12th May. > Unfortunately none of the replies helped. > The transcriber is to date still using SpeedBMD > > Debbie Valentine > > -----Original Message----- > From: Debbie Valentine [mailto:debs.valentine@gmail.com] > Sent: Friday, 13 May 2005 6:35 a.m. > To: FreeBMD > Subject: Unable to install WinBMD > > > Hi All > I have a new transcriber who has been unable to install WinBMD and so is > using SpeedBMD. > He has see WinBMD in action and wants to use it. 3. I suspect it could be a permissions thing in that the user does not have the neccesary rights on his account. Try installing using an Admin account or one with administrator rights. If this does not help then it is probably a software clash with something else running on the users computer. Has the download been tested for correct functionality on a different computer (this will confirm (or otherwise) the integrity of the download) One solution although a bit drastic, would be to create a system restore point for the current computer position, then restore the machine back to a point as early as possible preferably when it was first installed, (if available) then try and load WinBMD if it works then there is a clash with another software product, if not then it would indicate a possible hardware incompatibility although I would probably doscount this. Hope this helps Mick Lock Debbie Valentine <debs.valentine@gmail.com> wrote: This is the email of 12th May. Unfortunately none of the replies helped.
