I am transcribing 1845 Marriages, June Quarter from handwritten scan 1845M2-A-0002.jpg On a number of different lines there is a strange character (or characters, I don't know how many), which appears after the District name and before the Volume Number. I have read in the Transcribers' Knowledge Base that the characters "&c" often appears after a District , meaning "and etcetera" and that this should be transcribed. Because I cannot be sure what these particular characters are my instinct is to type an asterisk, for example, Able Elizabeth, Hereford *,XXVI However, I suspect that this situation will be repeated in many more scans in this series so I wonder if anyone could please confirm whether the character(s) is, in fact, "&c".
