Hi I have a couple of queries that I hope some helpful person can answer. Do we have to do anything with the initial 'U' in the last column of our transcription history etc. Some entries have entries showing as FIX whilst some show TYP and the number of 'unreadable bits'? The other point is how long after uploading our transcriptions is it before they appear on the FreeBMD page on the inernet? Many thanks Steve
You need to ask Derek that one, as it only relates to Scan2 transcribers. Steve Re: "Do we have to do anything with the initial 'U' in the last column of our transcription history etc. Some entries have entries showing as FIX whilst some show TYP and the number of 'unreadable bits'? These queries are Syndicate specific to Scan2 and you will need to ask Derek off list. Syndicate specific queries posted to the Admins list leads to confusion for members of other Syndicates. Re: "how long after uploading our transcriptions is it before they appear on the FreeBMD page on the Internet?" It takes from about 1 day to 1 month before transcriptions appear for searching. The database is updated at approximately monthly intervals and records appear after the update. Further information is at: http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/vol_faq.html#10d . Hello I don't quite understand the first question, so I won't reply. My I can answer the second one. Transcriptions appear on the internet when the database is uploaded. The admins seem to do this about once a month (correct me if wrong!) so It could take up to a month to be available, depending on when you submit your work. Whatever the case, they are uploaded relatively quickly, and appear... The other day I found my first transcriptions online :) It was really satisfiying! Hope you get an answer to your other queries.
