I'm having a problem as well, I have an entry that was handwritten and not only can I not make out the district there is no number for it and the page number doesn't make sense, I tried using the wildcard * but that didn't work. The entry reads something like this: Evison Herbert Scunthorpe (Suinthorpe?) 5/40, help i'm new and lost...lol what do I do?
Hi Susanne Without rhe information on the scan you are transcribing it is difficult to tell. However from the information given I think you may have a Late Registration entry referencing September 1940. Scunthorpe Registration District was created September 1938 (and was actually in District 7a) How to deal with it is dealt with in the advice on the Website but I believe it should go something like this: Evison, Herbert, Scunthorpe,?,S/40 That is put in a quetsion mark for the missing volume and put S/40 in the Page column Regards Jeremy -----Original Message----- From: Susanne [mailto:rainlily@ns.sympatico.ca] Sent: 18 November 2005 05:18 To: FreeBMD-Admins-L@rootsweb.com Subject: My own district problem I'm having a problem as well, I have an entry that was handwritten and not only can I not make out the district there is no number for it and the page number doesn't make sense, I tried using the wildcard * but that didn't work. Hi Susanne Just a rider to what other people have said about this. Don't be put off by the message which appears when you try to enter a ? for the missing district number. Just persevere, it will eventually accept it and let you move to another field.
