Email is such an ambiguous medium in which to converse, particularly on sites which do not allow for use of emotions (smileys). As I read this, I see the original email as neither a request or a demand, but merely a suggestion! Why on earth would a mere transcriber give two hoots whether the site is years out of date and looks bad for it's owners???
