Hi Louise It does sound like somehow your file has been overwritten. I have one idea for you to try and see if there is a copy of the file on another part of your computer disc, and another idea to try and stop the same thing happening to other files in future. To try to find if there is another file in a different part of the disc, you can try to use the "Start => Search" menu and look for "All files and folders" where "All or part of the file name" is 0756 and "Look in" is Local Hard Drives. My tip for trying to avoid it in future is to make a copy into another directory (call it something like beforeVerifying). Then use BMDVerify and WinBMD and you did before. That way if something goes wrong and a file gets overwritten you can at least go back to where you were before you started verifying and correcting. But I fear that for this file you will most probably need to retranscribe it. I neglected to mention that I hadn't uploaded the file to the BMD website yet, the file is still saved on my computer. I completed transcribing 1883M3-0756, then started -0757, without placing the +PAGE at the end of 0756. After saving each time & finishing, I went to check both files before starting BMDVerify & found that 0756 is a copy of 0757 and one of the files was saved automatically as Pre-0757, yet they are the same & I know that I definitely entered the correct batch, starting with the "A" forenames in 0756. This file seems to have disappeared. Another thing I should mention - my instructions were, because I am new, were to hold off uploading to the BMD website until my first submission had been checked, which is fair enough. Apologies for the confusion. Any help please or do I have to redo 0756? > Louise > > > ==== FreeBMD-Admins Mailing List ==== > FreeBMD Transcribers homepage > http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/vindex.shtml > > ============================== > View and search Historical Newspapers.
