    3. Hi I am VERY new to transcribing so this might be an easy one to answer. I am transcribing 1877 deaths march p111 FOL-FOR and at the bottom of the first column I can see there is an entry underneath FORD Gertrude Myra J. 0.......Chipping S. 6a 13_ I can see the top of the page number has a 7 in the middle but that is all. I know that the surname must be FORD as this continues in column 2 and the first letter of the foremane must be G or H (as Hannah starts col 2) but cannot READ these. What should I transcribe. Regards Stuart Davies

    3. If you can see there is a record but cannot read any of it then, assuming you also cannot see how many characters there are in each field, you should enter : *,*,*,*,*,* i.e. Enter a * in each column. If there are columns in which you are sure of the number of characters and you can't read them enter a _ for each character. E.g. if you are sure there are four characters in the surname, but don't know how many there are in the other fields enter : ____,*,*,*,*,* There are other options if you are sure you can recognise some of the characters. I have looked at the film and the record is actually : FORD,Grace,52,Hayfield,7b,473 Derek Lowe ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Davies" <stuartpdavies@ntlworld.com> To: <FreeBMD-Admins-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 6:35 PM Subject: Missing Entry > Hi > > I am VERY new to transcribing so this might be an easy one to answer.
