    3. Hello Brian, According to the Uncertain Character Format, "?" is used when there is nothing in the column. In this case, the column contains "d". Additionally, neither WinBMD or the FreeBMD file management editor accept "?d". Kind regards, John.     3. Hello John, Did you get the email I sent on the 2nd December? Details below: Hello John, You are quite correct in that a question mark is used for missing field data. Having tried a number of options it would seem that you can only use '_d', which is strictly speaking invalid as the missing number is not there or use a question mark to replace the letter 'd' that is there. As there is no other option I would go for the '_d' option as you could argue that the number is there but you can't read it.
