    3. Hello all: One of my trancribers, with 1½ years'experience and 27,000 records uploaded, has presented me with an oddity on page scan 1928B4-F-0309. The last record of the last column has had its page number (401) scratched through, and replaced with the item which I have been trying to reproduce here (but have been "not explicitly allowed" to by some person - at Rootswseb, I imagine..... Correspondence copied below). I read it as: Double Brackets, enlosing two lines, of which the first reads 2 (or 12) oblique stroke 5 (or S) '75; and then a second, lower line - still bracketed - showing 0173/S. This is not in line with any of the types of late registration records that appear on these pages, nor does it seem to be dealt with on the Transcribers' Knowledge Base. In other words, what does it mean? and how can it be transcribed in a useable form? A few words of wisdom, please, for a harrassed Syndicate leader. Do you mean it was explicitly disallowed, or allowed (but not explicitly)? I shall send it again, minus the tiny illustration which I copied and pasted from the full page scan, and without which the query is just about meaningless. Let's see if anyone can be bothered to look it up. Richard Oliver Madrid, Spain [email protected]

    3. Couldn't resist taking up the challenge. having looked at the page image your description was very clear. I don't understand all the notation but guessed that it referred to a September quarter late registration in 1975. This appears to be so as in that quarter two entries appear: FAY Irvine Vickers Fulham 12 0740 FAY Irvine Banks Vickers Fulham 12 0740 From: "Richard Oliver" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2008 7:24 PM Subject: Peculiar ref. in lieu of page number: Hello all: One of my trancribers, with 1½ years'experience and 27,000 records uploaded, has presented me with an oddity on page scan 1928B4-F-0309. 3. Hi Richard, With respect to "what does it mean", the information provided by others on related entries for this individual appears to agree with my previous suggestion that references such as 0173/S are probably related to adoption. See this earlier thread - http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/FreeBMD-Admins/2007-09/1189507579 best regards, Martin Cope ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Oliver" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2008 7:24 PM Subject: Peculiar ref. in lieu of page number: Hello all: One of my trancribers, with 1½ years'experience and 27,000 records uploaded, has presented me with an oddity on page scan 1928B4-F-0309.
