    3. I think TKB item 6(d) ( http://www.freebmd.org.uk/vol_faq.html#6d ) applies. This says that where the original entry is crossed out, transcribe the entry with the amendment and add a comment. You only need transcribe the original as well if it was *not* crossed through. So I would do it like this: French John E. Sheldon Eastry 2a 1852 #COMMENT Mother's name French crossed through and handwritten Sheldon added. French John E.
