http://www.freebmd.org.uk/7steps.shtml describes how to set about it. Whether you find it complicated or not probably depends on you. If you are able to type an accurate copy of what you see in front of you, are able to follow instructions systematically, and to know when something is unusual and you need to check what to do with it, then you will probably find transcribing quite straightforward and enjoyable. If you find it difficult to copy exactly the spelling of unfamiliar words, and particularly if you don't easily recognise the differences between words spelled in different ways - Louise, Louisa and Lousia for example - you might find it harder. Go to http://www.freebmd.org.uk/Signup.html and follow the link from 'Syndicates that you don't need a microfiche or microfilm reader to join' and follow instructions, if you want to try it.
