    3. Hello Further to my question before here is the message I received regarding BMDVERIFY. Step 1 seems OK Step 2. I get Suspect file C:\Users\Joan Cook\Pictures\FreeBMDscans\1959B1-D-0309 jpg Could not find any +INFO/S/F/M/B/U/PAGE header lines in the file Click OK to carry on CANCEL to quit. Pressed OK Went to Step 3, specified 2 columns then OK When check page comes up scan seems OK but checking line (ie imput line ) seems to be in Œcode¹ instructions appear to be OK. Although it appears to reach end of input file immediately. I¹ve tried reloading WinBMD and BMDverify but that didn¹t seem to change anything. can¹t seem to locate the transcribed file. Thanks Keith

    3. The error message in step 2 arises when the user selects an image (jpg) file instead of a transcription (.BMD) file. She needs to choose the directory containing the transcriptions. Phil

    3. Further to my previous message I notice that the user "can't seem to find the transcribed file". I'm not sure where the default location is because I chose a different location for mine, but to find the location where WinBMD is putting them start WinBMD and select the file menu. The location is defined under "Define Save Path". Phil

    3. Accessing "Define Save Path" doesn't solve the problem fully. Windows 7 decides to store the .BMD transcribed file as a "compatability file" so when you open the "Define(d) Save Path" folder you need to select the "Compatability Files" button and you should find your transcribed file there in "Output". Hope this helps. This is called progress!!! 3. I have WinBMD and BMDVerify installed on my recent vintage laptop, which also runs Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. Instead of installing WinBMD under the default C:\Programs directory, I created my own directory, C:\WinBMD and installed it there. I installed the bmdverify.exe file to the same directory. I download image files to the C:\WinBMD\Images directory. I save transcription files in C:\WinBMD\Output. Everything works fine and I haven't had a bit of trouble. It seems that Windows 7 tries to do "smart", "helpful" things with the C:\Programs directory. For programs like WinBMD and BMDVerify, it is better to stay away from that directory and use your own, over which you have complete control.
