I have transcribed four scans since getting my new computer with Windows 7 last week. Two were sent to Free BMD via the transcription program and then also sent successfully to Scan 2 from the C:/Program Files/WinBMD/Output file. The third scan I transcribed yesterday went to Free BMD directly from the WinBMD transcription program. However, when I tried to send it to Scan 2, it did not appear in the Output file. Also I discovered that the two files I had previously sent to Scan 2 from there were now gone. These are not deleted from the computer in any way as they all appear at the bottom of the file menu in WinBMD and can be opened again in that program. Has anyone any suggestion as to where I can find these. I have done a full search of the C drive and have come up with nothing except the original scans in a .jpeg file. Many thanks, Carol Haycock Scan2 # 609
Hi Carol See Transcribers' Knowledge Base ( TKB) question 3(f) at http://www.freebmd.org.uk/vol_faq.html#3f This refers to Vista but applies to Windows 7 as well. Use 'Define Save Path' in the 'File' menu and create a folder 'WinBMD' in Documents and a folder 'Output' within that, then make that the default location for your files to be saved to. Open each of your transcribed files in turn and use f3 to save to the new location. You should then be able to find them with no trouble and attach them to emails to send to your syndicate co-ordinator if you so wish. If you prefer to subdivide 'Output' into different folders for different years and quarters, or in some other way, that can also be accommodated using 'Define Save Path'.
