Hi Roy and listers This is how I double check my entries; I am sure there are other methods but this works well for me. I open the original scan in Imaging (Accessories) at 51-68% magnification (number depends on your scanned source) and size the window to fit the left side of my screen. It shows one column of the scan. Then I open the transcribed file (eg. 68M30081.sca) in Wordpad (Accessories) and size the window to fit the right side of my screen. Then I can check the entries right beside each other using a straightedge to see if I typed exactly what was on the scan and repair any mistakes. (With one source, I had to reduce the size of the font in Wordpad to get both pages on the screen with the same number of lines on each) I usually find at least one mistake on each page. Now that I doublecheck, I can type faster without worrying about errors, as they will be picked up on the doublecheck. It usually takes me about 1 hour to type the page and 1/2 hour to do the check. OK I'm just new at this, and I've been slowed down even more by a computer crash, but I open the scan in Micrografx (or the Kodak imager in Win 98) and put it at the top of the screen, pulling the bottom of the box up to about half way. Then open SpeedBMD at the bottom of the screen and transcribe directly from one to the other, with the records together it is easy to check over each line after you finish it. That's exactly the way I transcribe with PaintShopPro and SpeedBMD then proofread by the same method once finished transcribing the whole sheet. Only major problem was trying to track down a missing record - until I realised the third column was shorter than the others (-: PP
