    3. I subscribe to many mailing lists and the easiest to cleanly filter are those that have the listname within square brackets. Would be happy to see all emails from [FreeBMD-Admins] even if this lengthens the Subject line. 1. [FreeBMD-Admins] or similar subject tag (waas RE: Re: Old dead nun....)
    2. Russell Ridout
    3. There is a downside to Barrie's solution - a significant number of people do not change the subject line when they reply, making following a discussion very difficult as several threads have identical subject lines. On a similar point, a number of people do not trim extraneous material from the reply, so you get multiple copies of the instructions on how to unsubscribe etc, and often the rest of the Digest as well, so again there is difficulty in deciding what the message is actually replying to. I have seen periodic requests for excess text to be cut from replies, yet in some cases there have been replies to these messages - with the multiple headers and footers, showing that the message hasn't really been read or maybe understood... At least with the single messages you have some chance of the body text relating to the subject line!! 3. We seem to being going off target with what this all about?   Richard asked a question which had a dubious subject line but apparently got answered to his satisfaction.   If we want to discuss how to change our way of working it should be moved to the Discuss  list and leave the Admin list to serve the purpose for which it is intended.   http://www.freebmd.org.uk/lists.html provides more information relating to our mailing lists.   Allan Raymond FreeBMD Coordinator of Syndicates     --- On Tue, 19/7/11, David Mayall <david.mayall@googlemail.com> wrote: From: David Mayall <david.mayall@googlemail.com> Subject: RE: Old dead nun.... 3. I belong to many lists and only FreeBMD does not show the list tag referred to by David Mayall. I never have any difficulty with reading the subject line with the tag in place. I do actually filter my email as David suggests, but it would certainly make it easier to sort messages if Rootsweb had a consistent policy to show a tag. 3. This is something that comes up from time to time. Yes, we could (potentially) add a "list tag" such as [FREEBMD] to every post that comes via the list, but this means that the actual subjects of messages become harder to read. Messages that come via the list contain a whole variety of headers that identify them as being from the list, and which you can use to filter the messages from FreeBMD into a separate folder that will prove them not to be spam. 3.  'Show Image Tools' is found when you have the scan showing when using WinBMD.   If you selecet "View" you have a further two selections one being "Show Ruler" and the other being.... "Show Image Tools", you should then see Ruler Auto Move if you select the "Show Image Tools" option.   Allan Raymond From: tony mansell <anthony.mansell@ntlworld.com> To: freebmd-admins@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, 18 July 2011, 15:14 Subject: RE: Re: free bmd data entry - ruler problem This probably sounds daft; i don't appear to have 'Show Image Tools' displayed anywhere, nor can i find anything to tick! When i tested it then, there was a tick in the rule move box, so it seems to be working now. Don't think I unticked the box, but you never know!
