    3. Hi: An interesting bunch of answers, I'm sure all correct. I also have come across references like this, and - not content with just transcribing them right - I have wondered WHY they appear, and WHAT they represent. I'm very used to Late Registrations with references like "see D/54", but these are quite different. Any suggestions? 3. See Transcribers' Knowledge Base (TKB) question 6(d) about entries that have been amended, 6(g) about where to insert handwritten lines that appear on a page. See TKB 6(z) about what to do with entries that have been crossed through, TKB 6(u) about the 'Surname 1 or Surname 2' entries, TKB 6(am) where the same entry has multiple page numbers, districts etc. These are the most common issues with Births pages. http://www.freebmd.org.uk/vol_faq.html is where you find TKB. 0340/S type entries usually have four digits in front of /S, sometimes fewer if a leading zero has been omitted. 3. Peter I agree totally with Sian. This is the method used for handwritten corrections/updates - up to 4 numerics (including leading zeros ) '/' + 'M' or 'J' or 'S' or 'DS' for the reavant quarter. I have looked at the page and I see it is 0340/S with the transcribed number 1 from column two getting in the way. 3. I believe that MacBMD is a PowerPC app and so needed Rosetta, which has been removed from Lion. You will either need to downgrade to Snow Leopard or use a Virtualisation product like VMWare and run Windows with Windows based BMD software. Mark. 3. Enhancing the search engine to return entries with UCF patterns is something that we would like to do in the future, but it will present technical challenges, and it will take some time before it can be provided. 2. Robert Monk
    3. I have noticed that if we put a wildcard in the surname or forename field when transcribing, then the searcher will not find it (unless he knows to also use a wildcard). Eg if you search for LEGH Florence Heski in Dec 1847 births, you will not find LEGH Florence Hesk_. Can the search engine can be written to allow wildcards in the data to be searched (as well as in the search terms)? BTW, Hesk_ should be Hester, which I will shortly correct Robert Monk Transcriber
