I have tried contacting Derek Scan 2 and lucille hambling about my last allocation of work which was all done and uploaded and sent to Derek between 31 Mar and 05 April. These are still showing in my open assignments and I have had no further work assignments sent to me. What can I do about this. Grateful for your help Lilian Frs517 Lilian Fraser my email address is lilianfrs@talktalk.net -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Hi All This should not be ignored. It is a heads up to ALL transcribers check a page when you have finished it including the header to see you have not done something stupid. WinBMD and VerifyBMD do a good job of the data being accurate but in filling in the header has bad results for anything up to 720 odd entries in the FreeBMD database just for a slip of one character in the year or quarter. So "Heads Up" Take a few seconds to make sure the header is correct before you send a page in . While this case may be Scan2 specific, I am sure this problem is not exclusive to Scan2. Double check your filename with your assignement. The page I am currently subscribing contains lots of very feint unreadable entries. The surname and forenames boxes allow me to enter an asterisk but not so the district, returning a 'volume number is missing' error. What characters do I enter or should it be left blank? I believe a similar question was asked about 2-3 weeks ago which after reading I deleted. Is there some kind of webpage to see recently asked questions? Thanks in advance.
I gave duff information, my suggestion wont allow you to upload the file to FreeBMD. Back to the drawing board. Some good news, films for 1871 to 1880 (plus some other years) have been ordered for FreeBMD and delivery is expected in about 6 weeks. At present I can't say when they will be scanned and accessible on the FreeBMD site. Hi I have just downloaded pages 456-457 from GUS 1880b2. Page 456 showed up in two halves top of page at the bottom, bottom page at the top, page 457 showed up just 3/4 of bottom half of page. How can I fix this please. If the answer is on the BMD site can you direct me please. Thank you John Smith
AT the bottom of page 1605 first column, I have come across a handwritten entry which read " For remainder of Woods use 4 leaves ...( file out of place)" Can some pleae advise as wht I should do with this note as it appears to be in the same hand as the entries. Keith
To volunteer transcribers We would like to give advance warning regarding a slight modification to the process to access scans on FreeBMD. It is now possible for transcribers to access the scans at: http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/scan-source2.shtml (or http://images.freebmd.org.uk/GUS/ ) by using the same SubmitterID and Password as that used to Upload files to FreeBMD. The previous scheme of using a different ID and password for access to scans has been superseded and will be withdrawn by the end of April 2005. For the time being access will also be permitted using the existing common userid and password. However it is highly recommended that transcribers start using their SubmitterID and Password to access the scans to ensure an orderly changeover of ID and Password. Regards Allan Raymond
Hi Derek I assume you are using WinBMD. If you enter the first letter of the Surname in the "surname first Letter" box in the header details form then the file names will be different. You'll have 2 files 1857M2D0514 and 1857M2R0514 That will get rid of your computer and FreeBMD saying the file already exists. good luck Bob Phillips ----- Original Message ----- From: "Derek Lister" <derek.lister@ntlworld.com> To: <FreeBMD-Admins-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 30, 2005 9:32 PM Subject: Problems with batch numbers > > > Ten days ago I transcribed 1857 June Marriages page 0514. Ten days ago I transcribed 1857 June Marriages page 0514. The Header Source/Scan Ref was ACDB-03/A-D. Today I started to transcribe another page 0514 this time with Header Source/Scan Ref was ACDB-03/L-R. At first I received an error saying file already existed and did I want to delete it. Being not sure what the outcome of this would be I answered no, saved the file to floppy and then deleted it from my hard drive. Success, or so I thought. When I then tried to upload the one I had just completed I now get "Error in Upload. There is already a file on FreeBMD which you have uploaded with that name. Do you want to replace it with this one?" As these are two separate files what course of action do I take please?
