So in total you have FIVE middle name fields and not one. Does that explain things? Best regards Dick

    3. WinBMD cannot be used for the first two quarters of 1911 because it provides the extra field for mothers maiden name which did not appear in the Index until the Sep quarter. Ian has said that this will be corrected in the next version now under test. 2. Ian Brooke
    3. I'm looking for additional people to try the new version of WinBMD. This version has been tested for quite a while now by a small number of very patient people and it has been some months now since we had any sort of problem so I really need people who can try out the new features and, as well as be satisfied that they work properly, also comment on their usability. It may be better if you have a reasonable amount of experience using WinBMD to enable you to comment on the differences. I would like to get 3 or 4 people with each version of Windows so when you email me please state what version of Windows you have. Please don't be upset if I turn anyone down - it only means I have sufficient people with that version of Windows. There are over 60 changes/fixes in this version - please have sufficient time available to work through the list! Please note that at present I only have available an upgrade to WinBMD version 4.4 - if you are not using that version then please do not write as it won't install. Please also note that despite being an upgrade this is still a large download because the scan viewing libraries have all changed (to cater for the new format scans) and the helpfile re-issued. Please email me privately at ianbrooke@hotmail.com rather than use the FreeBMD list. Thanks Ian

    2. MICK LOCK
    3. I suspect it could be a permissions thing in that the user does not have the neccesary rights on his account. Try installing using an Admin account or one with administrator rights. If this does not help then it is probably a software clash with something else running on the users computer. Has the download been tested for correct functionality on a different computer (this will confirm (or otherwise) the integrity of the download) One solution although a bit drastic, would be to create a system restore point for the current computer position, then restore the machine back to a point as early as possible preferably when it was first installed, (if available) then try and load WinBMD if it works then there is a clash with another software product, if not then it would indicate a possible hardware incompatibility although I would probably doscount this. Hope this helps Mick Lock Debbie Valentine <debs.valentine@gmail.com> wrote: This is the email of 12th May. Unfortunately none of the replies helped. 3. I would agree that it probably doesn't prevent FreeBMD from accepting such material but I would think that the submitting individual would be in clear breach of the 1837-Online Terms & Conditions which state "You must not make any of the Material available to anyone online". I am also somewhat confused as I clearly remember a statement made last time this discussion took place to the effect that the 1837 data was software enhanced and as such was not reliable for our uses.
