It looks as though the handwritten entry reads X - Audrey C Northumblnd Mch/47 In the hints and help for beginners there is a similar entry with district Lambeth, and it says: For the district, select Lambeth from the list but replace the volume number by a ? and in the page column the characters as seen, i.e. See S/98. So you would do the same here (but obviously with Northumblnd instead of Lambeth). Kate.
Hi Don This can mean that the site is busy or you may have done what I did some time ago. I have a partitioned drive and had WinBMD on the data drive instead of on C drive with the operating system and that caused this error to happen. I think maybe because it was taking too long to preform the upload function. You should of course still be able to upload throuygh file management whcih you will find here http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/bmd-files.pl Regards Debbie N. Hi Annie It will allow you to type in *,* That's all I can think of. Louise Have you actually joined one of our Syndicates via our Page at: http://www2.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/list-synd.pl?reader=0 ? The Co-ordinator of the Syndicate will then give you an assignment once you have registered your SubmitterID. I'm guessing that you have subscribed only to our mailing list, you also need to register for a SubmitterID (using the link above) to be able to transcribe and upload records to FreeBMD. Any problems please email our Volunteers Co-ordinator at: vol-coord@freebmd.rootsweb.com ? I have downloaded the Windows BDM & am ready to be productive. I am transcribing 1903 births, December Qtr., Page 71. At the bottom of the page is a handwritten entry with an insertion point in the column above, but the district name that I read (it looks like Nothumblad) does not correspond with any known district that I can see, and it does not have a volume number. WinBMD will not allow me to insert any wildcard characters without the volume number, how do I get over this one? Annie G
Might I suggest that if anyone gets an email bounced when sent to a syndicate co-ordinator or someone else like Bob in FreeBMD you try to send it again 24 hours later. A number of internet service providers have occasional faults which result in bounced emails. I know several sent to me recently have bounced. Jeff
Hi Sounds similar to the problem I had a few weeks ago. I found out my service provider had decided some emails were SPAM and had thrown them into my Junk Mail Folder from where I retrieved them. I also placed the adresses concerned on my "Approved list" to ensure no recurrance. Does anyone know what has happened to Bob Phillips' Email? I know he's alive and functioning because he replied to something I sent him on Sunday 6 Nov, but now (on Tuesday 8 Nov) some of the other stuff I sent him that same weekend is bouncing back. In scan 1832D3-C-0524 I have an entry Curley James but the e in Curley appears to have a line through it. How do I TWYS with this one - the correction puts the entry in sequence. Do I type it as I have done here and put in a #COMMENT line or do I type it as the actual correction. Bronny

Is there a way of downloading the distict page range files that lie behind the District Info pages? ie on the web page http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/district-page-map.pl?file=1861M1.csv%201861M2.csv%201861M3.csv%201861M4.csv can we download the file 1861M1.csv directly I have written a program that checks a transcription file page numbers against the district page ranges. However I have to copy the data from the district info web page and turn it into a .csv file. It would be easier to directly download the .csv file regards Dominic Wells
Hi,]When submitting a correction, you need to 1) read the instructions, 2) tick the box that confirm that you have read and complied with the instructions. 3) Enter the corrected information. 4) Quote the VALID information source you are basing the correction on 5) Enter a valid contact email address. If you do this then the system will accept your correction and I will check it along with the other 25 corrections requests received so far today. Kevin S. Howell FreeBMD Corrections Coordinator.
