    3. I fully support this view. If ever there was a "storm in a teacup", this was it. It does, however, demonstrate the danger of using lists to air the dirty linen in public: I thought that the lists were for the dissemination of useful information to transcribers, the "whinge" brigade should do so off list. ----- Original Message ----- From: Sheelagh<mailto:shee.hawkins@lineone.net> To: FreeBMD-Admins-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:FreeBMD-Admins-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: 14 November 2005 13:22 Subject: Re: Transcribers' Page Oh for goodness sake get a life. The time spent bitching at Allan could far better be spent transcribing. The original demand to have the bouquets page updated was just that a demand. No please, no thank you, just an order for it to be done. Allan like all the rest of the trustees (and all the transcribers) is a volunteer. Why did the original complainant (or you for that matter) not offer to take over the updating of that page? As Allan does not get paid for updating the web pages, he is entitled to decide whether or not he ignores rude demands. I think he was justified in his response to both Mr Smith and to yourself. 2. Allan Raymond
    3. Please everyone, let's not blow my comments or those of Evan out of proportion and get too personal. Evan made a request to correct a Web Page. Whilst I would have adopted a different approach to make the same request, each individual is different and this is to be respected. My personal response was just that, and it isn't necessarily the same as that which would have been made by one of the four Trustees or other Project Team Members. It just so happens, that I normally make the request to have the Bouquet Page updated using a formal Project Management System process which enable all the Trustees and Project Team to see what is being requested. Requests to change any of the Web Pages are best requested via the Mailing List rather than to me direct. I retain a list of Bouquet requests sent in via various means and when time permits I arrange for the Web Page to be updated. Whilst it is nice to have the Bouquet Web Page bang up to date it isn't top of my priority list. So, if we can resume normal service? Thanks Allan Raymond ----- Original Message ----- From: "Allan Raymond" <allan_raymond@btinternet.com> To: <FreeBMD-Admins-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: 14 November 2005 11:59 Subject: Re: Transcribers' Page Your negative comments are counter-prductive. I would more likely arrange to have the page updated if your comments had been along the lines "Would it be possible to have the Bouquets Page updated to reflect receipt of any new bouquets since its last update on 16 November 2003?". 3. Email is such an ambiguous medium in which to converse, particularly on sites which do not allow for use of emotions (smileys). As I read this, I see the original email as neither a request or a demand, but merely a suggestion! Why on earth would a mere transcriber give two hoots whether the site is years out of date and looks bad for it's owners??? IMHO it was very nice of Evan to bother to mention this oversight and HIGHLY unlikely that he will ever bother again! Monday morning blues - not just on this list either! 3. Do we take it from this that the Trustees of FreeBMD have delegated to you the authority for deciding what is a reasonable request and what is not? What should be on FreeBMD and what should not? 3. Your negative comments are counter-prductive. I would more likely arrange to have the page updated if your comments had been along the lines "Would it be possible to have the Bouquets Page updated to reflect receipt of any new bouquets since its last update on 16 November 2003?". 3. I click on show 'scan image' in 'scanned batches' and don't have a problem. I hope that helps. If not where have you saved your images that could make a difference. Need more info to help further if this does not help. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious. 1. WinBMD problem
    2. I would like some help on using WinBMD, but can't find any reference in the knowledge data base. My problem is that when I have a file open in WinBMD and then open the scanned image to copy as soon as I start to type the information into the blank form the image disappears. I can't find any settings to keep it open on screen whilst I am copying it. Can you help or tell me where i can get help please?

    1. RE: What to do with a Viscount??
    2. Veronica Elleson
    3. Personally I would do what I have done where there is an oblique slash in a handwritten correction (WinBMD doesn't like that either). a) transcribe "Viscount" in the surname column but without the brackets, (make a note of the line) b) upload the file and then c) go into it through file management on the website and put the brackets in the right places. It works for the oblique stroke, so I would imagine it would work for the brackets. Unless anyone has a better suggestion - I'm sure someone more technical than me will tell you if this isn't possible.
