    3. A misnamed scan has crept onto this download page, the scan name is 1842B2-C-0365-rescan.jpg and it can be found amongst the scans of the B to C surname initial change block. It contains the same data as the scan named 1842B2-B-0365-rescan.JPG. Should it be removed? John

    2. They are on FreeBMD under your alternative spelling of Summerton. Looking at scans of the GRO indexes, that it where they appear, not under Somerton. 3. http://www.freebmd.org.uk/7steps.shtml describes how to set about it. Whether you find it complicated or not probably depends on you. If you are able to type an accurate copy of what you see in front of you, are able to follow instructions systematically, and to know when something is unusual and you need to check what to do with it, then you will probably find transcribing quite straightforward and enjoyable. If you find it difficult to copy exactly the spelling of unfamiliar words, and particularly if you don't easily recognise the differences between words spelled in different ways - Louise, Louisa and Lousia for example - you might find it harder. Go to http://www.freebmd.org.uk/Signup.html and follow the link from 'Syndicates that you don't need a microfiche or microfilm reader to join' and follow instructions, if you want to try it. 3. One option is to subscribe instead to the Digest version. This batches up individual items into a single continer email - the last had 5 items in it. Not only does this reduce the clutter in your mailbox but the container email has the Subject "FREEBMD-ADMINS Digest,..." which is what you were looking for. Of course, you don't get to see items as soon as they are sent - not much of a hardship! To change to the Digest, unsubscribe from the List version and subscribe to the Digest - see http://www.freebmd.org.uk/lists.html for how to do this. Oh, and if you wish to change the discussion topic it is always best to change the Subject as well. Less confusing that way! 3. By far the easiest method is to get your email program to sort incoming email using the headers in the message ... for example this maillist puts in List-Id: <freebmd-admins.rootsweb.com> into the header of each message. Keep the subject lines for the subject of the email ... 3. http://www.freebmd.org.uk/search-faq.html#missingentry explains that you do so by using the info button for the preceding entry. You find this link from the message on the right when you get search results: "Don't understand the results? Perhaps our Frequently Asked Questions could have the answer." There is a link on 'Frequently Asked Questions'. If you have specific examples and have difficulty reporting them by that method, get back to me off-list and I will try to help. This also applies if a complete page is missing in a quarter that appears to be over 95% complete. 3. Make a correction to the preceding entry. The following appears on the correction page: If you have identified that an entry on a transcribed page has not been transcribed you should attach a correction to the immediately preceding entry (use a wildcard search to get surrounding entries) filling in the details of the missing entry. The Source field must contain the words "missing entry" in addition to indicating where you got the information from (e.g. a FreeBMD scan). 3. Hi David, Corrections to add missing entries can be submitted by locating another entry from the same page that has been trasncribed. Ideally the entry immediately before or after the missing entry and submitting a correction against this adjacent entry. Include in the correction the full details of the missing entry and in the source box on the correction form, start your information with the text "Missing entry" And we will see if we can get the entry added into the database for you.
