    1. [FRAZIER] FRAZIER of OH & IN
    2. Fraser, James E Jr
    3. I have the following book that I recently purchased from PAT JOHNSON on this list but has no connection with my lineage; maybe the following can be of some genealogical interest to someone on the list. All I ask is what I paid for it, $20 + $3.95 for shipping. The book is in excellent shape. I can send a jpeg file of a family tree with related surnames to any interested parties. >From the dust cover:" Ian Frazier's first book since his best-selling GREAT PLAINS (1989), tells the history of his family in America from the early colonial days to the present. Using letters & other family documents, he reconstructs 200 years of middle-class life, visiting small towns his ancestors lived in, reading books they read, discovering the larger forces in history that affected them. He observed some of them during the British raid on Danbury, CT, in the Revolutionary War; he follows others west as they pioneer in the wilderness of OH & IN, where schoolteachers were paid in whiskey & front-door hinges were made of bacon rind. He visited the battlefields where they fought the Civil War. Parts of the book details life in Norwich, OH, a county seat founded by his g-g-g-grandfather, as it emerges from backwoods hardscrabble into the prosperity of the Gilded Age. Frazier interviews old-timers, uncles, aunts, cousin, maids, & a beer-store owner who knew his dad. He pursues the family saga in aspect from trivial to grand, hoping for a "meaning that would defeat death." pp 386, Hardcover w/ dustcover
